Summer… and lots of things going on this month. The submissions for our annual S.N.A.P. at JCC Exhibit are in; 138 photographs are vying for one of the 40 available positions in the show. The images have been sent to our juror, and participants should be getting the results soon, with enough time to print and frame their work in time to deliver them from hanging on August 1st.
Our speaker for the July S.N.A.P. meeting is our juror, Jerry Park, who will discuss his selections for the S.N.A.P. at JCC show. The meeting is as always, the 4th Tuesday of the month, 6:30 pm at Dury’s.
Jerry Park
I began seriously pursuing photography in 2007 after a career in corporate America. Landscapes were my first love and continue to be a frequent subject. In addition, I’ve enjoyed building a portfolio of the interiors of all sorts of workspaces, from a shoe shine shop to Nashville’s water filtration plant, from a car seat recoverer to a pristine Purity Dairy, from an artist’s studio to the shop of a third-generation luthier. I’m a member of several photography organizations, including SouthLight, a 6-member salon dedicated to growing and demonstrating that art is alive and well below the Mason-Dixon line.
Our speaker for the June meeting was Martin O’Connor who presented his dance photography. Thanks to Kay Ramming and David Morel for conducting the meeting, and to David for arranging for Martin’s appearance.

Renee Lowery has a feature article in the July edition of the Nashville Arts Magazine…
“Renee Lowery’s Horses of Iceland photographs are not merely snapshot images of these magnificent creatures; they are indeed classic wildlife portraitures, which capture the personality, mood, and power of her favorite subject. In addition, this equestrian collection features panoramic frozen landscapes that highlight the harsh tundra these Icelandic horses inhabit.”
