Has everyone made their New Year’s Photography Resolutions? One of them should be to not miss this month’s meeting. Vesna Pavlovic, our juror for our current exhibition will discuss her selections and critique the images. Please see her info. below.

WE WILL NOT MEET AT DURY’S THIS MONTH! Instead, we have scored space at Vanderbilt University:

Room 216 is reserved at Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University for SNAP to meet on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6:30pm. The address is 401 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203. There is limited parking on campus but there is a parking lot at 21st and Division, meter parking across 21st Ave., and another lot behind Starbucks. Take the staircase or elevator in the main lobby to the second floor.

Artists should submit work that portrays or represents an element – earth, air, water and/or fire. Any medium, from an abstract painting with colors representing an element/elements to photographs or sculptures will be considered.

Downtown Artists’ Co-op Regional Juried Photography Exposition (Jan 27 deadline)

You are invited to participate in the annual Downtown Artists’ Co-op Regional Juried Photography Exposition to be held February 1– February 23 at the Downtown Artists’ Co-op Gallery, 96 Franklin Street, Clarksville, Tennessee

Any artist at least 18 years old residing in Tennessee or Kentucky may enter. Work must have been completed within the past 2 years. All work must be original and not produced in a workshop or class.  Work must not have been entered in previous TN or KY juried exhibits.

Brentwood Arbor Day Photo Contest (must be Brentwood resident) (Feb 17 deadline)

Each year we have contests as part of our annual Arbor Day Celebration at the Brentwood Public Library.  One of these is a photography contest.  The contest is open to all Brentwood citizens.  Please note the deadline for submission is Friday February 17, 2018 .  You may drop your photographs off at the front desk of the Brentwood Public library and tell them they are for the Arbor Day photo contest.  Winners will be displayed in the library’s art display area during March, and there will be cash prizes which will  be awarded during the Arbor Day celebration on March 17, 2018 at the Brentwood Library at 11:30 am.  April 1.

On February 6, photographer and master printer Paul Taylor from New Hampshire will address the Brentwood Photography Group to discuss professional printing techniques. Sue Henry, President of BPG, has invited SNAP members to attend. Please check in at the reception area. You can review samples of Paul’s work at

 Here are some of the photography workshops coming up in 2018. More coming soon.

**In the interest of giving our workshop clients our full attention while in the field, we do not shoot for our own personal use at any workshop.

Waterfalls and Wildflowers – Fall Creek Falls State Park/Cumberland Mtn. State Park – April 13th – 15th, 2018

(This workshop is only taking reservations starting sometime in January, due to the accommodations change. I will let you know when!)

**All meals and lodging is included in the cost of the workshop. The lodge at FC Falls is being torn down and we will be staying in the cabins at Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville, but we will still shoot the falls at FC Falls and at other locations – a much better deal!
