March Meeting at the Frist…

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The March meeting of S.N.A.P. is a field trip to the Frist Center for a tour of the Irving Penn exhibit. We will NOT meet at Dury’s on Tuesday. Instead, we will assemble near the information booth in the Frist no later than 6:45 pm on the evening of March 30. The cost for the tour will be $10.00 ($9.00 for seniors) for non-Frist members. Parking is separate.

So far, only six people plus myself have confirmed for this event, but I expect we will have the minimum necessary for our scheduled tour. Please check in with me so I can collect the fee from non-Frist members and to make sure of our number for our total group.

I have heard this is an excellent exhibit and I’m looking forward to seeing all of you then.

If you haven’t heard, an excellent retrospective of Irving Penn’s large and diverse work is open at the Frist Center for Visual Arts.  The exhibit is titled “Beyond Beauty” and definitely worth going to at least once if not more!  The exhibit runs until May 29th.

The Frist has prepared a gallery guide that is very informative, check it out: Beyond Beauty: Gallery Guide

Snap Meeting Notes…

Spring is here a couple of weeks early and so is “SNAP! Notes”. That is because our March meeting was a field trip to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts for a new photography exhibit, “The Power of Pictures: Early Soviet Photography and Film”.  Susan Striepe, a new SNAP member, lead a personalized tour for us, after we attended the curators presentation. The show will be up through July 4, and the catalog is available through the Frist giftshop.
